HowMuchPerPerson

Privacy Policy

Northwoods Ventures LLC · Effective October 7, 2026

This policy explains what HowMuchPerPerson, a service of Northwoods Ventures LLC, collects when you use our website, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. The short version: you can use every page without telling us who you are.

1. What we collect

  • No accounts or contact details. The site has no sign-up, and no page asks for your name, email address, or phone number.
  • What you type into calculators. Headcounts, menus and other settings are worked out in your browser. When you change the headcount on a food page or use the menu planner, the settings go into the page address (for example ?guests=75), so they reach our hosting provider like any page request if you reload or share the link. None of this is linked to you.
  • Videos. Some food pages show YouTube videos as thumbnails. The thumbnail images load from YouTube's image servers, which receive your IP address and browser details like any image request. Nothing else from YouTube loads until you press play; the video then plays from youtube-nocookie.com, YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode, and YouTube may set cookies and collect data under Google's privacy policy.
  • Shopping lists you send. “Text this list” opens your phone's own messages app, and “Email this list” your own email app, with the list filled in; we never see the phone number, the email address or the message. “Copy” and “Share link” use your device's clipboard and share sheet.
  • Technical data. Like any website, our hosting provider receives your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you request, and the page that referred you, and keeps them in short-lived server logs used to run and secure the site.
  • Usage data. Google Analytics and Vercel Web Analytics record how the site is used: pages viewed, how you arrived, device and browser type, and approximate location. Our analytics events record outcomes, like which food a calculator was used for, never what you type. See section 4.

2. How we use it

  • To deliver pages to you.
  • To keep the site secure, prevent abuse, diagnose problems, and understand overall traffic.
  • To comply with law.

3. Who we share it with

  • Service providers that run the site on our behalf: Vercel (hosting and website analytics), Google Analytics (website analytics) and YouTube (videos you choose to play). They may process data only to provide their service to us.
  • Legal and safety. When required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of anyone.
  • Business transfers. If Northwoods Ventures LLC is acquired or merges, information may transfer to the successor under this policy.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising.

4. Cookies and analytics

Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use the site, so we can improve it. It uses first-party cookies and collects your IP address, device and browser type, the pages you visit, how you arrived, and your approximate location. Google processes this data for us. If you're signed in to a Google account and have allowed Google to personalize ads, Google may connect this data to your account to give us aggregate reports, such as visits across devices or broad age and interest groups; we see only totals, never who you are. We don't allow our Analytics data to be used to personalize ads, and we don't send Google your name, email address, or anything you type. You can control how Google uses your activity in your Google Account's data and privacy settings. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services. To opt out, install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Vercel Web Analytics. We also count page views with Vercel Web Analytics, from our hosting provider. It doesn't use cookies and doesn't store your IP address. It tells visits apart with a code made from each request, which is discarded after 24 hours, and gives us only totals: pages viewed, the site that referred you, device, operating system and browser type, and approximate location. See Vercel's Web Analytics privacy page.

There are no advertising tags on the site. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; every page still works. If we add advertising or forms that collect information, we will update this policy first and describe them here.

Our pages link to other sites, such as the USDA guides and other sources behind our rules, and our sister site EnoughPizza. What happens on those sites is governed by their own privacy policies.

6. How long we keep it

Server logs are kept for a short period, generally no more than 30 days, unless we need them longer to investigate abuse or as the law requires.

7. Your choices and rights

To ask what we hold about you, or to have it corrected or deleted, email support@howmuchperperson.com and we will respond within 45 days. Residents of states with consumer privacy laws, including Connecticut, California, Colorado, and Virginia, and of the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, may exercise their rights under those laws the same way. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

8. Security

Pages are served over HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee against every breach.

9. Children

HowMuchPerPerson is written for a general audience. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe we have, email us and we will delete it.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. The effective date appears at the top. See also our Terms of Service.
